Partners to develop and implement an operational plan

Donatien Tameko, Unicef's Deputy Representative in Gabon, was in Port-Gentil at the head of a working mission to follow up on the signing, last July, of a memorandum valid for three years for the city of Port-Gentil to obtain the Child-Friendly City label.

The aim was to make a first progress report, a few weeks before the end of the first year, with local partners, including the ad hoc committee for the follow-up of the memorandum, private sector operators and members of civil society.

With the ad hoc committee, it will be a matter of developing, from the action plan drafted at the time of signing the memorandum, an operational plan that will serve as a roadmap for all partners. This will be presented to economic operators who, as Donatien Tameko emphasized by congratulating and thanking them, have always responded to support development projects for the benefit of the population, particularly through the mechanisms of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The UN official also praised the action of civil society organizations for the protection of the child, very active in the field, and whose role in the implementation of many projects is expected.
