Fighting effectively against sickle cell disease is a challenge that the NGO Sourire d'un enfant has set itself, which brings together both sickle cell sufferers and volunteers wishing to support carriers of this disease. The dedicated World Day, set for June 19, was an opportunity to carry out various actions to inform, raise awareness and carry out screenings.

OldyNzambaMoungue wife Makanga, president of this NGO, welcomed to the Joseph Paul and Marie Cécile Essonghé foundation a large audience who came to learn about a disease which, according to her, is poorly known in Port-Gentil. Hence the efforts it has undertaken, helped in this by many volunteers, to make known the causes, the consequences for social life and, above all, the care of patients.

For this edition, it mobilized, over three days, June 17, 18 and 19, partner NGOs, in particular the NGO Aurore, Elite, the Association of Volunteer Donors of Gabon, the NGO Drépazérocytose and sickle cell pediatricians ( Françoise LoumouamouYeni and Dr Lucrèce Marcelline Délicat marries Loembet).

With a team of sensitizers, she criss-crossed, on Sunday June 18, the beach of the place called SOGARA, to meet the many Portgentillais who go there on weekends.

An outing that had the effect of making the NGO known and edifying the public on the steps to take if one wants to learn about the disease.
