ORIGO EDITIONS, the first and current only publishing house of Port-Gentil, which already has many authors in its catalog, was officially inaugurated this Saturday, July 8, 2023, on the occasion of the Literary Day, a event that it organizes and which is, this year, in its third edition.

"Writing and the need to write", such is the theme that brought together, around Valérie Origo, a woman of letters with several books to her credit and founder of the publishing house, many authors and a public of lover of beautiful letters.

Where we learn that we can apprehend writing as "the translation of one's thought into speech recorded this time on a medium" (Valérie Origo). And there are plenty of reasons to write: having fun, boosting your brain to develop your potential, freeing your imagination, influencing your contemporaries, sharing your experiences with others, becoming immortal through the works you leave to posterity (Dr Christian Ernest Nteme); bear witness, denounce the facts of society, raise awareness and raise awareness and action (Ida Flore Maroundou), raise awareness among young people, challenge adults (Annie Dowé).

Writing has also been seen as an outlet, or even as a form of therapy that allows you to free yourself and move on.

Editions Origo say they are ready to support all those who have something to say and share with others. They have already published a good dozen authors of both sexes, including young people, in genres as varied as the novel, poetry or personal development. They have woven a network of partners, both locally and internationally, to promote their authors. They also intend to develop strategies to encourage the public to read, books remaining, despite the development of new technologies, an essential tool for transmitting knowledge.
